2016 Year in Review

Dear clients and Friends,

I can’t believe another year has come and gone!  I am more than thankful as I look back at the past year in business and in life, and am even more hopeful as I look ahead to the year to come.  The Fox Group had another successful year in Real Estate.  We closed another 35 properties and made countless new friends in the process.  This year I had the pleasure of working with several previous clients and their friends, as they moved up to bigger and better things.  I am so thankful for the trust you all have put in me to help you achieve your goals.

The market in the Denver Metro area is still extremely strong, and the next year looks to be another strong year of growth.  I would not be surprised to see things slow down a bit with the rising interest rates, but there is still a shortage of real estate here and a continued influx of people moving here from other states.  The job market is strong and continues to grow, and the Colorado way of life is hard to beat!!!

We enjoyed giving back to the community this year, and will continue to do so with a portion of our income every year.  Here are some of the organizations we came alongside this year.  Community Faith in Action, Emmanne Ministries, Solid Rock Ministries, FCA, Storyline Fellowship, The Colorado Teen Project, World Vision, Cadence International and others as well.  One of the  highlights of the year for my family was another trip to Theri, Kenya to visit the children of an orphanage we support, along with kids camp we ran for other kids in the village.  My family was blown away by what we saw and experienced, and by our growing relationships with the people of Kenya.

We have some exciting changes coming this way.  The Fox Group will be adding some agents this year to further meet the needs of our clients in Golden and Denver.  We will be changing companies to Fathom Realty, to further focus our time and energy on the things we care most about; our clients and our community.  Fathom focuses on servant leadership, which is a core principle behind our values as a team.    We will have an office at Connects Workspace in downtown Golden, and look forward to the added connections that partnership brings!  We cant wait to provide even better service this year!! Here is a snapshot of Fathom’s Core Values:

H-Help: Help improve the communities we live in

I-Innovate: Innovate to meet the evolving needs of our associates and clients

S-Serve: Serve our people always, expecting nothing in return.

I love this!

Thank you again for your trust, your friendship and your referrals.  Looking forward to working with you or your friends in the years to come.

12 things I have learned about life in Colorado

I have now lived in the State of Colorado for almost 11 years now.  In light of all the new folks moving to this state, I thought I would share lessons I have learned.

  1. Spring has not arrived in March when the first warm day hits. Expect snow in May!
  2. If you consider yourself a biker of any sort; clip in, and expect to look like an idiot, fall unexpectedly, and generally feel stupid till you learn.
  3. Don’t drive through a snow drift. That stuff is like cement people!
  4. Speaking of driving, 4 wheel drive does not mean 4 wheel brake!
  5. If you want to keep your sanity, do NOT go skiing off I70 on a Saturday.
  6. Expect to be repeatedly beaten on the bike, and on the trail by women. Yes Men, get over it.  There are 3-4 women in my neighborhood alone that could beat down any of you.
  7. In fact no matter what you do, expect someone to do it better, and faster. I got passed on my motorcycle going down Lookout Mountain by a guy on a skateboard.  Case and Point…  Get over yourself, and have fun anyway!
  8. Mountain biking is not a Sunday stroll here. Lots of up, lots of down, and plenty of large rocks.  Technical means technical!  Brakes are a good idea…
  9. Speaking of rocks, do not attempt to dig in your yard. Not for a tree, not for a fence post….They call them the Rocky Mountains for a reason.  If you want to keep your manhood, please defer.
  10. Beer:  Know it, drink it, and evaluate it or feel like a poser.  And no, I have not acquired the taste yet, to my friend’s dismay!
  11. Be a bronco fan, or pretend if you have to.  At a Broncos game my 16 year old daughter had a 75+ year old man in her face because she was wearing a Niner jersey.  Scarred her for life 🙂
  12. People demand to be outdoors here. It’s not a fad, or a fashion statement like in some places.  Play hard, work hard, take risks.  Pretty much sums up this state.

2015 Year in Review

As I reflect back on this past year, I am overwhelmed with thankfulness on all the blessings of 2015.  I have been married to my dream girl for over 20 years, and our daughters now 14 and 16 are growing up so fast.  I love my family, and am so thankful for our community, and I feel blessed to get to serve my neighbors and friends with their real estate needs.

This was an amazing year for The Fox Group!  It was a record year for me with over 42 transactions and many new friendships made.  I finished first in volume and units sold in my office at Keller Williams Avenues.  I look forward to an even better year this year, helping my friends reach their goals.  Thank you all for trusting me with helping you buy and sell your homes.  We are equally thankful for the opportunities we have had to make a difference in the world and in our local community because of your business.  We were able to continue to help several non-profits that we care about in our community including Community Faith in Action and the Neighborhood Rehab Project, Mercy Housing (which helps secure housing for low income families), Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Colorado School of Mines, and World Vision.  The highlight though was traveling to Kenya for 2 weeks to help open an orphanage with a group of friends from Denver called Emmanne Ministries.  We were able to put 11 needy children into a safe home that provides them with food, love, clothing and an opportunity to get an education.  It was a humbling and convicting trip that convinced us we want to give more and do more for the needy among us!!

We are so thankful for your business and your friendship in 2015 and over the past several years, and we look forward to continuing to serve you in the future!  Have a great NewYear!

Sincerely,

Jeff Fox

Fall Reflections

I think it is fair to say that fall is quickly coming to a close.  With a snowstorm on the way here on November 10th, whats left of the leaves will be quickly eliminated.  Here are a few pictures of Golden on a fall walk a couple weeks back.  So glad to be living and working here in this beautiful town and state.

With rising prices in every neighborhood in Golden, it is getting more difficult to find affordable housing in and near Golden.  Many people are drawn to Golden because of its small town feel, parks, trails, recreation, clear creek, mountain views and more.  As a result, the competition for homes is fierce, and many first time buyers are struggling to get into the market.  At The Fox Group we have a passion to help all of our clients find their place, so we thought it would be helpful to list some of the most affordable neighborhoods in the Golden area.

Golden CO

Apple Meadows:  (Low 200’s-400’s) Apple Meadows is a neighborhood about 3-4 miles North of downtown Golden.  This is a great neighborhood for a starter home, or to buy a home that has potential for equity growth by remodeling.  Many of these homes are ranch models and bi levels built in the early 70’s.  People love this location because it is still very accessible to Golden, Denver, the Mountains, and Boulder as well.  There are numerous trails and open space options from this neighborhood, with access to North Table Mountain, Long Lake Ranch Recreation Complex and trails, and it’s just a mile from White Ranch open space.

South Golden:  (Low 300’s-500’s) There are several neighborhoods south of Downtown Golden that are still very affordable.  These neighborhoods are near South Golden Road, West, South and East of the King Soopers shopping area in south Golden.  Part of this area is also known as Pleasant View.  There is everything from condos, to townhomes and duplexes, to single family homes.  These homes are generally older homes, with some new construction sprinkled in as well.  This area has great access to Golden, South Table Mountain, and the new light rail station at the Jefferson County Government center.

Lakota Hills: (Mid 400’s-low 500’s)  This is a great neighborhood near Shelton Elementary with parks, trails, and close proximity to the Apex Open Space area near Heritage Square.  This is a small neighborhood of tri level homes of approximately 1900 sq feet and up.  These homes were built in the 1990’s and later.  There is a paved trail from this neighborhood that leads to downtown Golden and the Splash water park.
