Applewood Neighborhood Golden, CO/Wheatridge,CO

Applewood is a community 4 miles east of downtown Golden off 32nd St, just West, and east of Youngfield St. and Highway 70.  Applewood is a great community for families who like larger and more mature yards.  If you are used to the large trees and yards of the midwest, this is one of the rare neighborhoods of Denver that will mirror that feel.  These properties are typically older, but the variety of homes is a plus for many families.

In this neighborhood you will find starter ranches built in the 1960’s, larger ranch models with large yards, two story homes, tri level homes, and million dollar mansions as well.  Many of these homes surround South Table Mountain, or have views of South Table Mountain.

There are parks, trails, open space trails, the Applewood Golf Course, Rolling Hills Country Club, shopping and restaurants close by and great access to Maple Grove Elementary School and Manning Middle School.  Highway 70 is close, giving great access to downtown or the Mountains.  This neighborhood tends to be affordable, with homes starting in the high 200’s on up.  If you would like a little space to spread out with some privacy, this is definitely a neighborhood you should check out.  For more information on Applewood, or woud like the most recent list of homes, feel free to give Jeff Fox a call at The Fox Group at 720-891-5751.

Mountain Ridge Neighborhood Golden CO

Mountain Ridge is a community of homes on the West side of highway 93, on the North end of Golden where Washington Avenue intersects highway 93.  This neighborhood of homes has its own park, and easy walking access to Mitchell Elementary via the walking bridge over highway 93.

Homes range from ranch models of just under 2000k sq feet to large two story homes with 3500+ sq feet.  Many of these homes have views over Golden, and North and South Table Mountain.  There is a trail from the neighorhood that gives access to the Mt Galbraith Open Space loop.

This neighborhood is popular with many residents of Golden who want access to Golden, but want a larger home with newer features.  The neighborhood was built in the late 1990’s and prices range from the high 500’s and up.  Right across 93 from mountain ridge, there is a neighborhood Starbucks, the Cannonball Creek Brewery, a gas station, and other restaurant retail options.  Downtown Golden is about a mile down Washington Ave.  If you would like more info in this neighborhood, give Jeff Fox at The Fox Group a call at 720-891-5751.

On a cold and snowy november morning, I have to say that The Golden Diner hit the spot!!  I just met a friend there for breakfast before starting my day in downtown Golden.  It is a favorite of locals and tourists alike here in Golden.  Located on 12th St., a half block East of Washington ave, The Golden Diner sits in a quiet corner of Golden.  The restaurant has been open since 2009 and was voted the best breakfast in Jeffco in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and voted best lunch in Jeffco in 2012.   For breakfast, I prefer the traditional 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast.   The Golden Diner menu is full of great options though, including blueberry pancakes, biscuits and gravy, lots of omlette choices and the “hobo” which includes scrambled eggs, peppers, onions, and hashbrowns cooked together and topped with cheddar cheese!  There is much more to choose from, including great lunch items like Golden’s best homemade port green chili.  If you are looking for a breakfast place with great old town atmosphere, The Golden Diner is a great choice.  Bring a friend for a chat, or bring the family on a Saturday and experience it for yourself!

Table Rock Neighborhood and Communities in North Golden

The Table Rock Neighborhood is approximately 3-4 miles north of Downtown Golden, off highway 93 and w 58th ave.  This community is on the North side of North Table mountain, with mountain views of the foothills and flatirons.  These homes start in the mid 550’s, with the homes closest to North Table selling for close to 900k.

This neighborhood is popular with residents for its numerous paved bike trails, built in open space, community pool. mountain views, and access to hiking and mountain biking trails on North Table Mountain.  It is also approximately 1 mile to White Ranch Open Space, 15 miles to Boulder, and 20 miles to Denver.  This neighborhood feeds into Golden Schools including Mitchel Elementary, Bell Middle School, and Golden High School .

There are a couple of other neighborhoods that border the Table Rock Neighborhood including the Parkview Villas over 55 Patio Home Community.  These patio homes are now selling in the mid to high 400’s.

Wildhorse Ranch also borders Table Rock.  This community of ranch and two story homes was built in 2012 by Taylor Morrison and has seen3 homes sell in the past year.  These homes tend to me more affordable than Table Rock with prices ranging high 400’s to mid 500’s.

Just north of Table Rock there is another neighborhood of homes called North Table Mountain Village. These homes sell from the mid 400s to the 600’s, and also have great trails and mountain views.  7 homes have sold in this neighborhood in the past year.

There is also a new home community right at the intersection of highway 93 and w 58th avenue called Table Rock Ridge.  This community built by Lennar is building homes is now entirely built out, starting in the low 500’s for a base ranch model and prices go up from there.

Golden is an amazing place to live and invest in Real Estate.  We have seen significant appreciation in the real estate market here over the last several years, with demand outpacing availability.  As a result, many students and parents of students at The Colorado School of Mines come to us looking for homes and townhomes in the Golden area.  There are several great options within a mile or so of campus, from Condos near downtown Golden, to Townhomes or single family homes.  The challenge though is that it usually takes some time to find exactly what you are looking for in this market due to the lack of inventory and demand.  Its best to have a realtor who is looking on your behalf so that you can strike as soon as something hits the market, as most of these homes and townhomes will have multiple offers if it is priced right.

One of the more popular areas for students is south on Illinois St just past 19th ave.  This neighborhood is seeing significant appreciation.  There is a mix of family owned and student rentals in this area.  Most of the homes were built in the 1960’s or newer, and include, bi level, tri level, ranch, and 2 story homes. There is also an area of townhomes on the southern end of this Neighborhood called the Kinney Run Townhomes.  These townhomes are very popular and tend to only stay on the market a couple of days when they come up.  This neighborhood allows students to walk to school, downtown, the grocery store, bank and has access to great trails and parks.  On the southern end of the neighborhood is Golden High School as well, so this area tends to be popular with families.  If you are looking for something a bit more upscale, the Millstone and Gateway condos on Washington Ave are very nice options as well.  These condos are newer, have nice views and great access to downtown Golden, clear creek and more.

Best Burgers in Golden, CO

A burger from Bob’s Atomic Burgers

Golden has lots of great options for food, but I have to say that one place has risen above the rest when it comes to a classic American burger!  Of course this is my opinion, but because I work right in the heart of downtown, you can bet I have tried everything!  I hate to admit how many times I have eaten out in Golden, but lets just say that packing a lunch every day rarely crosses my mind.

Bob’s Atomic Burgers has  my vote as the best burger in Golden.  Not only are the owners great people who contribute a lot to Golden non profits, and the community on the whole, but the burgers are amazing. The burgers come sizzling right off the grill, fresh as can be.  There are a plethora of choices for toppings from a fried egg, to grilled green chilis and much more. You have a large choice of sauces as well,  from the hottest of hot sauce, to A1 steak sauce, to ketchup and mustard.  For those who need a healthier meal, try the quinoa burger.  I have never tried the quinoa, but my wife loves it!!
